Editing Shredder Settings

By default, the shredding level is set to 1 pass. However, to shred files even more securely, you can choose a higher number of passes.

Note:  The greater the number of passes, the longer it takes for Shredder to complete the task.

To edit Shredder settings:

1       Click the Settings button and click Cleanup.

2       Click the Shredder tab.

3       Select a shredding option:

§       Select Normal shredding (1 pass, quickest) to delete the file in one step.

§       Select DoD shredding (3 passes) to overwrite data with random numbers in three steps.

§       Select Enhanced shredding (7 passes) to overwrite data with cryptographically secure random number sequences in seven steps.

§       Select Gutmann shredding (35 passes) to overwrite data with a series of patterns in 35 steps.

§       Select a custom number of passes.

4       Click OK.
