Recovering Deleted Files

The Data Recovery tool helps you recover files that were accidentally deleted. Files may only be recoverable for a few minutes, so run Data Recovery as soon as you realize you need the file.

Data Recovery provides two ways to find and restore files. The first method displays a list of files that you can recover instantly. These are files that are in the Windows Recycle Bin or files that are being temporarily stored by Data Recovery monitoring. The second method allows you to search for files that might still have data on the hard drive, making them restorable.

Data Recovery monitoring is an option that is enabled by default. You can set up Data Recovery monitoring to hold files for up to 30 minutes. For more information, see Editing Data Recovery Settings.

NOTE:   Data Recovery cannot recover files that are permanently removed using Shredder.
