Changing the Search Engine

Startup Commander uses the search engine in the Options dialog box to find information about startup items. Startup Commander offers several options. You can also add a search engine.

Different search engines use different argument keys. You must search for an item to acquire the correct search argument key.

To find the search argument key for a search engine:

1       Open your web browser and go to a search engine’s main page. For example, go to http://ask.com/

2       Type in a search term, such as MOBSYNC.EXE, and press ENTER.

3       When the search results are returned, copy all of text that appears in the web address location box. For example:

http://www.ask.com/web?q=mobsync.exe&qsrc=0&o=0&l=dir

4       In the Startup Commander Options dialog box, from the Search list, select Other.

5       In the Search box, paste the text from the web address location box.

6       Delete all text after the first equals sign (=). For example:

http://www.ask.com/web?q=

7       Startup Commander automatically fills in the rest of the search text after the equals sign (=) when it performs a search.

8       Click OK to apply the change and close the Options dialog box.
