Editing Startup Commander Settings

You can select the Internet search engine used to research startup items, change the display of startup item file names, and set Startup Commander warnings.

Unlike the settings for the other SystemSuite tools, you edit Startup Commander settings from the Startup Commander tool.

To edit Startup Commander settings:

1       On the Optimize tab, click Startup Commander.

2       Open the Edit menu and choose Options, or click the Options button.

3       From the Search list, select a search engine.

4       To change the file name display length, clear the Show long file name check box. By default, file names appear as long file names. You can display files with 8.3-character file names.

5       To display a confirmation message when you apply changes, clear the Skip information notice after apply check box.

6       To permit disabling drivers and services, select the Expert Mode - Allow drivers and services to be disabled check box.

WARNING:  Disabling drivers or services can adversely affect your computer.

7       To prevent a confirmation message from appearing when you disable a driver or service, select the Skip recommended warning when item changed to disabled check box.

8       To restore the default Startup Commander settings, click Defaults.
