Setting Up a Boot Defrag When Your Computer Restarts

Paging and registry files cannot be defragmented when Windows is running. To defragment these files, schedule a boot defragmentation in the Disk Defrag settings.

To schedule a boot defrag:

1       Click the Settings button.

2       Click Optimize, and then click the Disk Defrag tab.

3       Click Boot Defrag.

The list of files shows which system files and paging files will be defragmented. If you have more than one drive, a paging file appears for each drive.

4       Select the Defragment paging files and registry log files at next boot check box.

5       Click OK.

The boot defrag occurs the next time you restart your computer. It will occur only once. To defragment the paging and registry files again, you must schedule another boot defrag.
