Using the Windows System Recovery Options

In Windows 7, the Windows Recovery Console has been replaced with the System Recovery Options menu. The System Recovery Options menu is on the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc. If your computer’s manufacturer installed recovery options, the menu might also be on your hard disk.

If your computer does not include the System Recovery Options menu, your computer’s manufacturer might have customized or replaced the tool. For more information, read the documentation that accompanied your computer.

You can use the system recovery options to repair startup problems, restore your computer’s system files, and run memory tests. Using some versions of Windows Vista, you can restore data and system files from a backup.
