The settings on the Scans tab show which tasks you want done for each type of scan.
To edit the task list for Anti-Malware scans:
1 Click Settings to open the Settings dialog box.
2 Click Anti-Malware, then click the Scan tab.
3 Choose to include or exclude a task for each type of scan.
§ To include a task in a scan, select the check box.
§ To exclude a task from a scan, clear the check box by clicking on it.
Enable rootkit detections — Searches for hidden spyware that might be attempting to hijack your computer at the Administrator level.
Scan inside archives — Scans compressed files, such as .zip and .rar files.
Scan at lower priority — Minimizes a scan’s effect on computer performance.
Exclude removable drives — Excludes removable drives, such as USB drives, that are attached to your computer.
Scan cookies — Scans Internet cookies.
Scan the registry — Scans the Windows registry.
Scan running processes — Scans programs that are running when the scan is running.
Include low-risk programs — Scans programs that would not necessarily seem to have a risk of threats.
4 When finished, click OK.
