Recovery Commander includes many settings. You can create checkpoints when you install new software, monitor some computer events, and create System Restore checkpoints when you create Recovery Commander checkpoints. You can also add folders and files to checkpoints and specify checkpoint storage policies.
The Recovery Commander settings take effect when the next checkpoint is created.
To edit Recovery Commander settings:
1 Click the Settings button.
2 Click Recover, and then click the Recovery Commander tab.
3 To create checkpoints when you install new software, see Creating a Checkpoint When Installing Software.
4 To start Recovery Commander Checkpoint Monitor, select the Run Recovery Commander monitor check box.
5 To display warnings when your hard drive’s configuration has changed or no Recovery Commander checkpoints exist, select the Show warnings when the disk layout has changed or there are no checkpoints check box.
6 To create a System Restore checkpoint when a Recovery Commander checkpoint is created, select the Create a System Restore checkpoint every time Recovery Commander creates a checkpoint check box.
7 To add a file or folder to the list of items placed in every Recovery Commander checkpoint, click Add.
8 In the Browse for Files or Folders dialog box, locate the folder or file to add and click OK.
9 To remove a file or folder from the list of items placed in every Recovery Commander checkpoint, from the Folders and files to include in every checkpoint list, select the item and click Remove.
10 To change the number of checkpoints, amount of space used for checkpoints, and length of time that checkpoints are stored, click the Storage Policies button.
§ To limit the number of checkpoints that are stored, select the Limit number of checkpoints stored to check box. In the Checkpoints box, type a number.
§ To limit how much hard drive space is used to store checkpoints, select the Limit percentage of system drive space used for storing checkpoints to check box. In the % box, type a percentage.
§ To ensure that a specific amount of hard drive space remains available, select the Set amount of system drive space to remain available to check box. In the MB box, type the amount of space to remain available.
§ To limit the length of time that checkpoints are stored, select the Limit the length of time checkpoints are stored to check box. In the Weeks box, type the number of weeks to store the checkpoints.
11 Click OK to close the Checkpoint Storage Policy Settings dialog box.
12 Click OK.
The settings take effect when the next checkpoint is created.
