Changing the Security Identifier for a Partition

You can change a partition's security identifier (SID). A SID is a unique name that identifies a subject, such as a user or a group of users in a computer network. Every Windows partition must have a unique SID. If you copy a partition, update the SID so the computer can recognize the new partition.

To change the security identifier:

1       In the disk map, click the partition to select it.

2       To change the SID for all drives and partitions, from the Advanced menu, choose Change SID > All Drives and Partitions.

3       To change the SID only for the partitions on the selected drive, from the Advanced menu, choose Change SID > All Partitions on this Drive.
