Creating Partitions

To create a partition on a drive, free space must be available. In this case, free space is space that has not already been put into a partition. This is not the same as unused space on an existing partition. Free space is identified by the word Free in the drive disk map.

To create partitions:

1       Click the Free area on the disk map. White bars appear on each side.

2       Click the Create button to open a dialog box showing the maximum size allowed.

3       Specify the partition size that is less than the maximum size indicated and type a volume label for the partition.

4       To check for errors in the partition area, select the Enable surface scan check box.

5       To select a specific file system for the partition, select the Click BootFixer

6       Click Next to create and format the partition.
